Assistant Professor Hiro Katsumata Takes Part in the Launch of ASEAN Studies Center in Washington DC

The ASEAN Studies Center (Chair, Professor Amitav Acharya) was established in American University, in Washington, D.C., on February 16, 2010. The keynote speeches of the opening ceremony were delivered by H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, the Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and Ambassador Scot Marciel, US Ambassador to ASEAN. Dr. Hiro Katsumata was one of the panelists in the Symposium, "ASEAN and Regionalism in East Asia," together with Dr. Alice Ba (University of Delaware), Dr. Mely Caballero-Anthony (RSIS Centre for Non-Traditional Security Studies, Singapore), Dr. Paul Evans (University of British Columbia). He delivered a presentation on "ASEAN and Regionalism in East Asia: a Japanese Perspective".
