Inauguration Meeting

On October 24, 2007, the Global Institute for Asian Regional Integration (GIARI) held an inaugural meeting to announce its policy and members. The President of the Council on East Asian Community (CEAC) and other extramural guests, who were invited from political and economic organizations, such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), honored GIARI with speeches full of high expectations. Attendants included Katsuhiko Shirai, President of Waseda University, Takayasu Okushima, Former President of Waseda University and Dean of Organization for Asian Studies (OAS), and many others within the university.

This meeting was commemorated with a special lecture, “The Future of Asian Integration” by Professor Peter Drysdale of the Australian National University, which broadened the audience’s views.
