Lecturer Profiles

Mr. Taro Kono
Born in 1963. Graduated from Georgetown University. In 1996, he won the 41st
Kanagawa District 15 election and is currently in his 5th term. From
November 2005 and until September 2006 he served as Deputy Minister of
Justice. In September 2009 he was the runner up in the election of
president of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Mr. Hidenori Sakanaka
Born in 1945. He graduated with a master’s from the Keio University Graduate School of Law. In 1970, joined the Ministry of Justice, and served with the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau. He retired in March of 2005. He has published "The Future of Immigration Administration" (Nihon Kajo Publishing), "Immigration Senki" (Kodansha) amongst numerous other
publications. Currently he is the Director General of Japan Immigration
Policy Institute.
