Research objectives

  1. To improve and strengthen main argument of the dissertation I have been working on by presenting in an international conference before notable scholars, receiving comments and having fruitful discussions.
  2. To learn and develop skills necessary for future research activities, specifically, presentation and communication skills
  3. To help promote Global COE Program activities by participating in the Second International Conference of the Japanese Studies Association in Southeast Asia (JSA-ASEAN) aiming to promote Japanese Studies network in the region and enhance regional academic community.


Research project

  1. Attend the Second International Conference of the Japanese Studies Association in Southeast Asia (JSA-ASEAN), "Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia: The Past, Present and Future," in Hanoi, hosted by Vietnam Academy of Social Science, 22-23 October, 2009.
  2. Join the Panel on "Characterizing Japan's Security Policy" and be a presenter on "Understanding Japan's Post-Cold War Security Policy: Neoclassical Realism and domestic institutional constraints."
  3. Conduct further research and collect data in Bangkok, Thailand
  4. Publish the online proceedings on JSA-ASEAN website
